How Will FDA’s Stabilization Period Impact Your Pharmacy?

The goal of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is, and has always been, the safety and security of prescription drugs for patients. So when the industry began voicing concern about meeting the November 2023 deadline, the FDA listened and updated its guidance. 

Does this mean your pharmacy’s preparations get a breather?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. This stabilization period is only meant to allow trading partners to “develop and refine appropriate systems and processes to conduct interoperable, electronic tracing at the package level,” so now isn’t the time to slow down. This plan only works if we all stay on course.
